Leadscrews and couplers

I’ve been selling budget-priced leadscrews and nuts for a bit now, but now I finally have 5mm-to-6.35mm motor couplers to go along with them. These leadscrews and couplers are a natural match if you’re looking to tighten up your layer alignment and increase the speed of your Z-axis layer transitions. Just make sure that your X-ends’ printed nut traps tightly hold the nuts!

A custom print

I did a custom print for Rust This World, which he plastered over and intends to turn into a mold. This is a great example of how 3D printing can make an idea come to life! It began as a concept:

This kind of custom rapid prototyping really shows off the strength of 3D printing!

GT2 belts and pulleys available

At long last, I finally have GT2 belts and pulleys for sale. These are really nice since they cut your backlash down to practically zero. The belts I stock are a meter long, making them suitable for Prusa and MendelMax printers, even ones with X axes elongated by up to 40 mm. Pick some up today!

Custom-printed objects

I’m pleased to announce a new service today: custom-printed objects!

Did one of your printer’s critical parts break and you can’t print a replacement? Does your printer have a small build platform and you need something big? Or perhaps you don’t have a 3D printer and you need a design rapidly prototyped? I can help! I will custom-print anything you need out of PLA at whatever detail level you require, and get it to you FAST if you need it fast. I can print objects that fit in a 10.5″ x 10.5″ x 7″ box (270mm x 270mm x 180mm).

That’s Sappho’s head over on the right, printed in black PLA at 0.1mm layer height.

I can print individual RepRap parts and custom objects (from Thingiverse or your 3D modeler, for example)
Parts will be printed on an advanced MendelMax printer.

You wanted it, so you got it; a load of GT2 belts and pulleys are on the trucks now, and I should have them in stock within a week or so. I know that GT2 belts and pulleys are tough to source outside of the USA, so international customers should be pleased to hear that I ship anywhere in the world, and for very low rates with small packages such as the kinds that belts and pulleys can fit into. GT2 belts are nice because their rounded tooth profile almost entirely eliminates backlash. If you need your GT2 fix, check back soon!

MendelMax parts sets back in stock

MendelMax printed part sets are finally back in stock! And I’ve made a few improvements. For one, all kits now include AlephObjects’ more robust Z motor and rod mounts. You can also select which kind of bushing you’d like your parts to fit, either Igus polymer bushings or self-aligning bronze bushings. Sets for bronze bushings will receive my new X-carriage and X-ends that fit these bushings, as well as Simonious’s Y bushing holders. Here’s what they all look like in black PLA:

Finally, the included extruder now comes with mounting holes for Makergear, Budaschnozzle, and J-head hot ends all built-in, so your hot end choice isn’t final anymore. Pick up a set today!

Self-aligning sintered bronze bushings in stock

A bunch of the sintered bronze bushings that are becoming popular in the RepRap community arrived recently. These bushings are really nice since they’re as precise as LM8UU bearings, but they’re smaller, cheaper, don’t rust, and tolerate up to 5 degrees of rod mis-alignment.

I have ones with 8 mm and 10 mm interior diameters, and the nice thing is that both have the same exterior diameter so you can easily upgrade to 10 mm rods later without replacing any of your bushing holder parts!

I’ve released updated versions of my X-ends and X-carriage that can fit these bushings. You can use the bushings with the following parts:
